Recovery Suit® dog and cat

Why is there a strap with a snap button on the inside of the Recovery Suit® at belly height?

The strap on the inside of the Recovery Suit® for dogs at belly height is part of the hold-up system. When taking your dog outside, the belly section can be rolled inward and securely fastened using the inside strap near the front legs and the snap button on the outside between the front legs. This makes it easy and convenient for your dog to relieve itself.

Is the Recovery Suit® suitable for a tomcat after neutering?

Since the suit is designed to allow cats to use the litter box, the surgical area after neutering/castration remains unprotected. Therefore, the Recovery Suit® Cat is not suitable for use after this procedure in tomcats (male cats).

Can a cat also wear a Recovery Suit® for dogs?

No, the Recovery Suit® for dogs and cats are different—each suit is specially designed to fit the unique anatomy of a dog or a cat. For dogs, our black and camouflage options (blue and pink) are available, while the black camouflage and tiger print version is tailored specifically for cats. The cat suit features a larger opening under the tail, ensuring it stays in place even during litter box use.

Can the Recovery Suit® be washed?

Yes, the Recovery Suit® can be washed at a maximum of 90ºC (194ºF). Most pet owners purchase two suits to have a spare for changing. Be sure not to wash at excessively high temperatures and avoid using a tumble dryer.

Do all dogs and cats accept the Recovery Suit®?

Yes, most dogs and cats tolerate the Recovery Suit®. It works similarly to a bodysuit or shirt but is specifically designed and equipped for animals. We provide pet owners with a quick and easy solution for their pet’s recovery. Some cats are very flexible and may try to wriggle out of the suit. For these cats, the loops inside the collar can be used for extra security by attaching them to a collar. Additionally, choosing the correct size is crucial. Since sizes overlap, we recommend selecting the smaller size when in doubt. The stretch fabric allows for a snug and comfortable fit. Keep in mind that special attention is needed if a wound is causing irritation. In such cases, an animal may try to scratch, lick, or even bite around the affected area.

Is the Recovery Suit® safe for my pet and its surroundings?

Yes, our products are free from lead and toxins, making them safe for both your pet and the environment.

What is the difference between the different colors of the Recovery Suits?

We offer a Recovery Suit® for Dogs and a Recovery Suit® for Cats. For dogs, you can choose from black, blue camouflage, or pink camouflage. For cats, the Recovery Suit® is available in black camouflage and tiger print.

Should I wash the Recovery Suit® before first use?

No, you don’t need to wash the Recovery Suit® before first use. However, if your pet has open wounds, always consult your veterinarian first.

Can my pet wear the Recovery Suit® all day?

The Recovery Suit® is made of 94% high-quality cotton and 6% Invista Lycra® 4-way stretch fabric. This combination ensures comfort and a breathable design, allowing the suit to be worn all day, provided it is washed regularly and your dog is always supervised by a responsible adult while wearing it. Additionally, monitor your pet regularly and check that the fit is secure but not too tight. If your pet’s behavior changes or they exhibit excessive licking or chewing, consult your veterinarian.

How much time does my cat need to get used to the Recovery Suit®?

Cats typically need some time to get used to the Recovery Suit®. To make the adjustment easier, many veterinarians put the suit on while the cat is still under anesthesia. This way, as they wake up and recover, they are already becoming accustomed to wearing it.

Some cats may initially freeze when wearing the Recovery Suit® for the first time. Don’t be alarmed—just give them time to adapt. It can help to distract your cat with toys or treats at first, so they focus on something else. This allows them to realize they can still move, play, eat, and drink normally.

If you think your cat needs a step-by-step introduction, you can try a gradual approach. Let them sniff the Recovery Suit® before putting it on. Pick it up while offering a treat or playing with your cat. Gently place their head through the opening while rewarding them with a snack. If they remain calm, gradually put the suit on—first the head, then one leg, then both.

Every cat adjusts at their own pace. Keep an eye on your cat while using the suit. If they still haven’t adjusted after a day and refuse to eat or drink, consult your veterinarian. In some cases, your vet may recommend an alternative solution better suited to your cat’s needs.

My cat is licking the Recovery Suit®. Is that a problem?

Some cats may lick the Recovery Suit® as part of their grooming routine or because they instinctively want to lick their wound or stitches. This highlights a key benefit of the Recovery Suit®—it prevents cats from licking, scratching, or biting the wound while still allowing them to move comfortably. If your cat continues to lick the suit, try distracting them with playtime or a treat. They may still be adjusting to wearing it. A cat’s rough tongue can cause small holes in the fabric over time. This isn’t a problem in itself, but if excessive licking leads to a large tear, your cat may be able to reach the wound, reducing the suit’s effectiveness. Keep an eye on your pet, and if the licking becomes excessive, consult your veterinarian for further advice.

Recovery Sleeve(s)® dog

Can the sleeves also be used for the hind legs?

No, that is not possible. The Recovery Sleeve® or Recovery Double Sleeve® is specifically designed for a dog's front legs.

Can the Recovery (Double) Sleeve® be used without bandages, wraps, or casts?

Yes, the Recovery (Double) Sleeve® can also be used for protection after applying ointment to pressure sores or to prevent excessive licking.

Can dogs tear or bite through the Recovery Sleeve®?

That is always a possibility. The Recovery Sleeve® is not made of Kevlar. However, most pets accept wearing the sleeve and do not attempt to damage it. If your dog excessively licks the sleeve, you can place a bandage inside the sleeve to help keep the wound dry.

Can the Recovery Sleeve® be cut to size?

No. If the sleeve is too long, it can be folded up instead.

How do I find the right size Recovery (Double) Sleeve®?

To determine the correct size for your dog, measure the chest circumference (just behind the front legs) and the leg length (on the inside of the leg from the armpit to the ankle). View the size guides here.

DRY® Cooling Vest dog

Can my dog swim while wearing a DRY® Cooling Vest?

Yes, you can. Just make sure the fill cap is closed and wash and dry the vest properly to keep it clean.

Can the DRY® Cooling Vest be washed?

Yes, the DRY® Cooling Vest can be machine washed at a maximum of 40ºC. Let it air dry and never use a tumble dryer. Make sure the fill cap is closed during washing.

Can the DRY® Cooling Vest also be used for medical purposes?

Yes, the DRY® Cooling Vest is highly suitable for keeping dogs cool and/or lowering their body temperature.

Can the DRY® Cooling Vest be filled with warm water?

No, only fill the vest with normal bottled water or tap water.

Is it true that the fabric of the DRY® Cooling Vest wrinkles when I fill it with water?

Yes, that’s correct. The fabric wrinkles a tiny bit due to the evaporation and cooling process inside the vest. Once the fabric becomes smooth again, it's a sign that the vest needs to be refilled with the right amount of water.

How do I know when to refill the DRY® Cooling Vest?

If you notice that the cooling effect of the vest is decreasing, you can refill it. Make sure to drain any excess water before and after refilling. We recommend checking after approximately 1.5 days to see if the vest needs to be refilled, but it depends on the humidity and outside temperature on how fast or slow it evaporates the water in the vest. The vest is refillable up to 800 times!

Can the DRY® Cooling Vest be placed in the fridge or freezer?

No, never put the DRY® Cooling Vest in the fridge or freezer. Thanks to its professional cooling technology, the water inside the vest evaporates due to the warm outside air, creating a cooling effect. This cooling is distributed evenly over your dog's body, preventing sudden and excessive temperature drops.

Cooling products that require refrigeration or freezing can cause a rapid drop in body temperature, which is not ideal for dogs. In contrast, the DRY® Cooling Vest ensures continuous and gradual cooling (it will never starts cooling under 15˚C / 59˚F), keeping your dog comfortable and safe.

How long does the DRY® Cooling Vest stay cool?

Depending on the humidity levels and outside temperatures, the vest provides cooling for an average of 2-3 days.

How do I know if I’ve added enough water to the DRY® Cooling Vest?

Check the size chart for the recommended amount of water. It’s important to drain any excess water by gently squeezing the vest. Adding more water won’t make the vest cool faster or better—on the contrary, too much water can prevent proper evaporation.

When filled with the correct amount of water, the cooling effect will be almost immediately noticeable for your dog.

Can I leave my dog alone in the car while wearing the DRY® Cooling Vest?

No, absolutely not. Temperatures inside a car can rise extremely quickly, making it dangerous for your dog to be left unattended by a responsible adult. Never leave your dog alone in the car, even when wearing the DRY® Cooling Vest.

Can my dog wear the DRY® Cooling Vest all day?

Yes, absolutely. Thanks to its professional and even cooling technology, your dog won’t experience overcooling, making it safe to wear all day. However, we strongly recommend that your dog is always supervised by a responsible adult while wearing the vest. For optimal comfort and hygiene, we advise removing the vest every few hours to allow your dog’s skin and fur to breathe, and to check for any signs of irritation.

Can my dog wear a harness while wearing the DRY® Cooling Vest?

Yes, absolutely. Just make sure to put the harness over the DRY® Cooling Vest, never underneath. If needed, adjust the harness straps to ensure a comfortable fit without being too tight over the vest.

Is the DRY® Cooling Vest suitable for dogs with long/thick fur?

Yes, the DRY® Cooling Vest is suitable for all dogs and coat types. The DRY® Cooling Vest is available in five sizes, and the adjustable side straps and neck drawstring allow for extra space if needed for dogs with thick or long fur.

It provides safe cooling on the back, neck, chest, and belly, and once filled with water, the cooling effect starts within 3 minutes, lasting up to 3 days.

Thanks to the patented DRY® system, the vest does not become wet or damp during use, ensuring that your dog’s fur stays cool and dry.
